Will George Clooney’s Walk Down the Aisle with Amal Alamuddin Soon End in a Trip to Divorce Court?

While it’s little more than hearsay at this point, a report from Life and Style magazine claims that actor and filmmaker George Clooney and lawyer and activist Amal Alamuddin may be headed for divorce court.

The couple, who married on Sept. 27 in a lavish Italian ceremony, have reportedly been fighting behind closed doors. Current reports place their alleged divorce at just 87 days after their marriage.

Clooney and Alamuddin are just one of many celebrity couples to have a large, luxurious wedding only to divorce months later. Before she was one-half of “Kimye,” Kim Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries in a televised wedding spectacular, only to split just 72 days later.

Short celebrity marriages after highly publicized weddings seem to be the norm for many famous couples. NBA player Dennis Rodman and actress Carmen Electra were married just nine days in 1998 following a possibly intoxicated Vegas wedding.

The shortest celebrity marriage of all time, however, may go to Britney Spears: she also tied the knot in Vegas in 2004 with her childhood friend Jason Alexander (not to be confused with the “Seinfeld” actor of the same name) only to have the marriage annulled a mere 55 hours later.

There’s no word on whether or not the Clooney-Alamuddin split will end in an uncontested divorce, where both spouses reach a mutual agreement. Considering the wealth of both parties, it’s probably safe to say that there could be some legal issues in the split.

And while Clooney is rumored to be a “love ’em and leave ’em” type of guy by gossip site Celeb Dirty Laundry, there is so far no answer as to why they may want to split.

Alamuddin is also rumored to be pregnant, something that Life and Style notes may have scared Clooney off.

In January 2014, before he began dating Alamuddin, Clooney told Esquire, “I haven’t had aspirations [to get married or have kids], ever.”

“I was married in 1989,” Clooney told the magazine. “I wasn’t very good at it. I was quoted as saying I’ll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I’ve never talked about it since.”

Clooney and Alamuddin’s wedding is estimated to have cost around $1.6 million, according to People magazine.
