It’s a Material World, and Thanks to Julien’s Madonna Auction, You Can Own a Bit of the Material Girl

article-0-188BC8F300000578-573_634x761Madonna fans all over the world will soon have the chance to own the star’s personal items, thanks to an auction by Julien’s Auctions of Beverly Hills, one of the biggest auction houses for music and entertainment memorabilia.

The auction house will host live and online bidding on Friday, November 7 starting at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time and on Saturday, November 8 at the same time.

By including the chance to bid online, more Madonna fans will have the chance to participate — and potentially score big.

On the auction block are items spanning Madonna’s career, some dating all the way back to her pre-fame days. These include a yearbook from 1972 and the negatives and prints of nude photos the singer took back in 1979.

Of Madonna’s more well-known items up for bid are her dress and stole from the “Material Girl” music video — which is estimated to value at $20,000 to $40,000 — and over 30 of her costume items from the film Evita, along with accessories, all varying in value.

Costumes from other films, such as A League of Their Own and The Next Best Thing, along with costumes from some of Madonna’s other music videos, are also being auctioned off.

Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said the singer is in Europe and is unaware of the auction. Most of the items, said Rosenberg, were not actually in Madonna’s possession.

“Designers often supply clothes for shoots that are then returned to the designers,” Rosenberg told a columnist at gossip rag Page Six.

Also on the auction block is Madonna’s day planner from 1988, back when the singer was married to Sean Penn. The planner includes handwritten appointments to appear on “Late Night with David Letterman” and dates with Penn; the value of the day planner is estimated at between $2,000 and $4,000.

Another personal item is a document signed by Madonna and Penn for their eventual separation, estimated at a $1,000 to $2,000 value.

A more recent set of Madonna’s items includes the outfit worn on the cover of V Magazine with Katy Perry: a latex mask, wasp waist corset, gloves, bra… and panties.

Creepy, maybe, but Rosenberg said to Page Six of the sale, “If the shoe fits, then wear them in good health.”
